Editing your race video

Change where your race video cuts between cameras, make it all above water, or remove the lane overlays.

Every SwimClips race video is assembled automatically, switching cameras to catch the key moments of the race. You're not locked into our choices, though. Want the whole race above water, or to stay underwater a little longer? Use the editor.

Open the editor

Open your video and tap Edit Camera Transition Points. A timeline appears along the bottom of the screen:

  • Red lines mark where the video cuts from one camera to the next.

  • The blue line is how you scrub through the footage.

The preview updates as you drag, so you can see your edit before you commit to it.

Three ways to edit

1. Make an angle longer. Drag the red line after it forward. The camera you're watching stays on screen longer before the cut.

2. Make an angle shorter. Drag the next red line backward. The following camera takes over sooner.

3. Remove an angle. Drag one of its red lines until it meets the other. That camera drops out of the video completely.

How it works

Each red line is the boundary between two camera angles. Moving it decides which angle gets more screen time.

  • Drag a red line right and the angle before it gets longer.

  • Drag it left and the angle after it gets longer.

  • When two red lines meet, the angle between them disappears, and the angles on either side fill the gap.

Make the whole race above water

The most common edit. Find the red line at the start of each underwater angle and drag it forward to the next transition. Each underwater section collapses out, leaving one continuous above-water view of the race.

Remove the lane overlays

Tap the gear icon, then Customize your video, to turn off the lane highlights or splits.

Good to know

  • Zoom in: on longer races, use the zoom button to spread out tightly packed transitions.

  • Start over: tap the gear icon on the right to reset your edits.

  • Trim or extend: move the very first and last markers to trim the start or extend the end of the video.

When you're done, tap Finish. Your video is ready to save, download and share.
