SwimClips Coach system overview

What's in the case, what can get wet, how the cameras connect, and the two ways to place them.

In short: a water-resistant Hub on deck, underwater cameras wired into it, and the SwimClips app on your iPad.

The Hub

The Coach Hub lives in a rugged, water-resistant case rated for the pool deck. It holds all of the system's electronics: the WiFi router, the computer that runs the software, and the PoE switch that powers the cameras.

  • Plugs into a standard wall outlet.

  • Keep the connector caps sealed on any port without a camera in it.

  • Don't submerge the case.

Cameras

SwimClips uses PoE underwater cameras rated for far harsher conditions and depths than a pool. Always store them with the lens cap on. They're tough, but like any camera the lens can scratch.

Connecting cameras to the Hub

Plug each camera's cable into one of the Hub's 6–8 ethernet ports. The connection is water resistant once it's made, but neither end should get wet while unplugged.

Two ways to place the cameras

  • Across the lanes: spread up to eight cameras across the pool to see the whole group at once. Most clubs set up this way.

  • Down the pool: line three or four cameras along the pool and use Video Assembly to stitch one swim into a single full-length video.

Diagram coming soon: the two camera layouts side by side, across the lanes and down the pool.

What can get wet

  • The case, when it's closed (still don't submerge it)

  • The underwater cameras and their cables, except the connector ends

What can't get wet

  • The connector ends of the camera cables. If it doesn't look waterproof, it probably isn't.

  • The Hub with its lid open, or any uncapped port without a camera in it

Heads up: cable ends and open ports are the only parts that can't take water. Cap every unused port before the session starts.
