First-time camera and app setup

Install the app, connect your iPad to the Hub, and get your cameras showing up and named.

The short version

  1. Install the SwimClips app.

  2. Plug in the Hub and connect the cameras.

  3. On your iPad, join the SwimClips WiFi network.

  4. Live tab → tap the antenna icon to scan for cameras, and tap OK on each new camera.

  5. Rename the cameras.

  6. Optional: connect the Hub to the internet and log in to SwimClips Cloud.

Step 1: Install the iPad app

Download SwimClips from the App Store.

Step 2: Power the Hub and connect the cameras

Plug the Hub into a wall outlet. Take the lens caps off and plug each camera into a Hub port. Cap any port you aren't using.

Step 3: Connect your iPad to the Hub

The Hub has its own WiFi network called SwimClips. Join it from your iPad's WiFi settings like any other network.

Heads up: your iPad has to be on the SwimClips network to see cameras or video. On the facility's WiFi you'll see nothing. Check this first whenever something's missing.

Step 4: Find your cameras

  1. Open the Live tab.

  2. Tap the antenna icon, top right, to scan for cameras.

  3. A pop-up appears for each new camera. Tap OK on each one.

Scan again any time you plug cameras back into the Hub.

Step 5: Name your cameras

Rename each camera from "Unknown camera" to where it is: Start, Turn, Side, or a number.

  1. Live tab → tap the down arrow in the corner of the camera.

  2. Tap the camera's name and type a new one. The name stays until you change it.

Screenshot coming soon: the rename-camera dialog.

Optional: Connect the Hub to the internet

You don't need internet on deck: every recording is stored on the Hub itself. You do need it to share videos through SwimClips Cloud, or to import eo SwimBETTER data.

  1. Settings tab → Hub's WiFi connection.

  2. Choose your network and sign in as usual.

Heads up: this is the Hub's WiFi setting, inside the SwimClips app. It's easy to confuse with the iPad's own WiFi settings.

When it's working, Hub to internet connection in Settings shows a green tick.

Optional: Set up SwimClips Cloud

Cloud tab → log in or create a free account. Then you can share videos with swimmers, parents and coaches in one tap.
